You could expose security holes or corrupt your own data using general exception handling like this.
Gridview rowupdating event does not fire
This works as expected and I can put a breakpoint in the Row Command event handler to see the "Event" command name.
After it has been clicked the postback places that row in edit mode. At this point in time the above Edit Item Template is displayed with two Image Buttons within it.
In my custom grid View control I cannot raise the Row Updated event.
I have tried to add an event handler to the Row Updated event of my custom control but it is not called.
I'm having a very hard time understand what would prevent your event from being fired.
Do you have some sort of Java Script functionality that may be stopping it? A common problem people have with Grid Views is understanding when to data bind the data source to the Grid View.event is raised when a row's Update button is clicked, but before the Grid View control updates the row. This enables you to provide an event-handling method that performs a custom routine, such as canceling the update operation, whenever this event occurs.I am using a Template Field to display my Edit, Update and Cancel 'buttons' in the first column of the Grid View within respective Item Template and Edit Item Template fields.Within the Item Template I have an Image Buttong with a Command Name of "Edit".If we move our mouse on to the variables, which hold the cell values, we can see the old value instead of new updated value (Refer the debugging Screen Shot at the Top).
